Susan's faith foundation was as solid as they come by. She grew up Catholic and attended Catholic school. Her belief in and relationship with the Lord stayed with her throughout her life. Susan was fortunate to have had the wonderful education and guidance from attending St. Paul's Catholic School through eighth grade. Attending weekly Mass and having caring educators shaped Susie's faith. Sr. Eucharia and Sr. Cabrini were two of the Lord's loving servants who devoted their lives to Christ and to the children who attended their school. Grade school posada for St. Paul's
Susie continued growing academically and spiritually at Incarnate Word High School. She learned about excellence and achieving your own individual kind of excellence. Susie developed as a strong young lady at IWHS. She also had great times with lifelong friends and she loved singing with the glee club. The beautiful voices of the Madrigals instructed by Ms. Mary Ann De La Garza, Susie's teacher as well, graced her funeral Mass when Susie returned to St. Pauls for the final time.

The connections she made with people and communities continued as she attended the University of the Incarnate Word for one year and as she moved from her hometown to College Station, TX to become a Texas A&M Aggie.
At Texas A&M University Susie's faith would not be tested but rather put to work. Joining and also serving as president of Aggies for Life alongside wonderful other students and community leaders, she practiced her faith and promoted LIFE.
